Conditions & Temperatures:
Underwater temperatures vary from a winter in the low70’s to a summer high near 80. Conditions above water are generally sunny, with light breezes and occasional afternoon showers upslope. Most divers will be comfortable with a 3mm full suit year around. Add a hooded vest for the chillier winter months. While conditions are sometimes rainy or windy, It is rare for us to have to actually cancel a dive due to weather.
Our phone will be with us if you need to call:
What To Bring:
Your certification cards, any personal dive equipment you would like to use, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses or hat, light sweatshirt or warm jacket for après’ dive. If you have very special dietary needs or restrictions please feel free to bring your own snacks. We will be happy to place them in the cooler for you. Along those same lines, please realize that if your dimensions or needs fall way, way out of the ordinary we may not have the exact right equipment for you. It’s usually best to bring those size 16 EEE fins with you.
Reservations and cancellations:
Reservations (at least a few days in advance and sometimes more) are recommended and necessary most of the time if you want to be assured of availability. Please keep in mind that we have a 48-hour cancellation policy, which means that if you give us 48 hours advance notice (that you are canceling) there is no charge. Of course if we cancel a trip due to weather, which happens about 3 days a year, there is no charge either. If you have questions you'd like to have answered first, please feel free to give us a call. They are all so wonderful it’s hard for us to pick! Generally though we find that the sites with the best dive conditions are the best choice for the day. Some days there are 50 great sites to choose from and some days there are 12. Once we narrow down the list to “best choices” we often leave it to you to tell us what type of diving you want to do. Do you like lava tubes, pinnacles, steep and deep, reef fish, invertebrates, sharks, turtles, coral, manta rays? Yes, yes and yes right? With a little input from you, Mother Nature, your dive guide and Captains the “perfect” dive site often presents itself soon after we have headed out of the harbor. Sometimes we have a site that is really “going off” or an awesome critter we want to share. Then we will suggest it as an option, but it’s your day so let us know what you like. Water temp. varies from 72 degrees in winter months to 82 degrees in summer.
Our meeting time is 7:15 am. We return around 1:00 pm.
Our meeting times vary with the time of year so be sure to check with us shortly before your scheduled night trip. We will make every effort to notify you as soon as possible but if we have not contacted you with a set meeting time please give us a call.
